BUY PHEASANTS OR DAY OLD CHICKS
Thank you for considering us for your pheasants. First of all let me state, we do not sell birds to individual hunters. We do have a wholesale program and sell birds to other hunting resorts. Mininum sale is 500 pheasants per hunting season. Here is what you are buying;
We have a truly special pheasant; sure all producers tell you they have a great bird. We really do have something special. We started the genetic process 15 years ago. On staff is  our own animal science specialist from Kansas State University. Dan has been breeding this special pheasant for all these years.  At our shooting resort we sometimes run out of birds. So over the years we have purchased birds from many other operations. When we do this we only buy from professional first quality producers.  These producers are all NPIP blood tested producers, just like we are. That is when we compare how wild, how explosive the birds are, how far they thrust on flight, and how far they fly. Nothing has ever compared to what we produce. So if you are looking for a pheasant that your hunters will think are native birds, you found the place.
Let me state at this point; this may not be the right bird for you. Different areas of the country hunt in different ways. I spent 6 years on the North American Gamebird Association board of directors. I know how others hunt and what they want out of a pheasant.  This varies depending on the region of the country you are in. Our bird may be to much for some. Example; if you hunt light cover on your resort you will not get close to these birds. If you want a bird to stay where you last saw it, this bird will not be there 90% of the time. But, if you want a bird to leave the ground and get to 45 miles an hour in about 3 seconds this is the bird. If you want a bird to run and act like a wild pheasant this is the bird. If you want it to flush with native birds and the hunters can’t tell the difference this is the bird. What about European shoots? Here you can really tell the difference in birds. Unlike field hunts where the bird flushes within gun range and is usually shot as soon as it flies. European birds have 60 to 80 yards of flight distance before they see a shooter. Now you can really judge birds! Some are trying to land in front of the shooters, this is very bad. While others set their wings and glide over the shooters, not so bad but still not great. Now we have our birds, they are still thrusting and climbing over the shooters making exciting targets and on most shoots a harvest of only 70% is normal. In just 60 yards a huge number of our birds have climbed to 90 yard targets. This makes for a truly exciting shoot; example we recently had a shoot that spent 3500 shells and downed on 174 birds. Now that is exciting! This is why we do almost 70 shoots a year, more that any other resort in America!
Three things make our birds special. First is Genetics; as I mentioned above we have been working on this for 15 years. Next is Nutrition; Jeff Bozarth our feed specialist has been working on our feed for 12 years. We have developed a corn-less low carb diet that gives the birds a huge 48% protein meal that we make at our own feed mills. We do not buy feed like 99% of other producers; we make our own just so we can have our recipe. We even sell our pre-mix that Jeff makes so we can help others get a super bird. So we have genetics, nutrition, and now the third key to this bird. We have 6.5 miles of flight pens to allow space for the bird to fly and condition themselves. Our birds are born wild and explosive; then we feed our high protein diet that even a native bird can’t get; finally they get plenty of room to burn all that energy up by flying all the time!
