Pen raised birds have been a real issue for many years. In fact many years ago most serious bird hunters would never hunt them. Times have changed. Most bird producers today really try to produce good flying birds. But I wanted more. So I built my own feed mill. Then built my own hatchery. Then built my 6.5 miles of flight pens. Then started our own genetic breeding program. Then developed our own feed pre-mix. Get the idea, we are control freaks and want this bird to be better. Not just better than other producers, but BETTER THAN WILD BIRDS! This is why so many “old veteran hunters” will only hunt here. It is a one of a kind resort, and we have a one of a kind bird. We will prove it when you are here. But for now just go to the several videos on the web site you are looking at. Watch those birds go from the ground to out of gun range in 3 seconds! Warning, don’t watch to many videos just before bed time, you will have a sleepless night my friend! We are doing with pheasants what man has done with deer production. Deer now look like red stags, if raised with giant genetics and excellent nutrition. Things that a wild deer or pheasant can’t get everyday. Most will not invest the time or money to make this happen. WE DID, and that is why we are so popular today.
Ok, on the subject of “wild birds”. I do not believe there are any truly wild genetic pheasants in America. Bold statement I know. Think about this= AS PAST DIRECTOR OF OUR NATIONAL GAMEBIRD ASSOCIATION I KNOW MOST ALL THE MAJOR BIRD PRODUCERS IN AMERICA. HERE ARE A FEW TRUE STORIES ABOUT THOSE OTHER HUNTING OPERATION AND WILD BIRDS
1.ONE PRODUCER IN WISCONSIN DELIVERS 35,000 ROOSTERS TO 10 RESORTS IN SOUTH DAKOTA. HE UNLOADS AT NIGHT, DOES NOT APPLY BLINDERS TO THE BIRDS. SO THE HUNTERS LOOK AT THE BEAK AND CAN’T SEE THE BLINDER PEN HOLE IN THE NOSTRIL OF THE BIRD. THUS THEY THINK IT IS A WILD BIRD.
2.ANOTHER PRODUCER SLEEPS ALL DAY AND OPENS HIS BIRD FARM AT NIGHT. THE RESORTS COME IN WHILE THE HUNTERS ARE HAVING DINNER. GET THE BIRDS FOR THE WEEK; GO OUT AND RELEASE BIRDS OVER THE HUNTING AREA. YEP, THEY ARE WILD BIRDS GUYS!
3.OUR HATCHERY WHICH YOU CAN SEE ON THE SECOND PAGE CAN HATCH 29,000 BIRDS A WEEK. WE SHIP ALL OVER THE U.S. TO OTHER RESORTS. THEY PRODUCE THE BIRDS AWAY FROM THE HUNTING AREAS; THEN MIX OUR BIRDS WITH NATIVE BIRDS.
I COULD GO ON AND ON, BUT YOU GET THE IDEA. AS A F&G BIOLOGIST TOLD ME “I AM NOT SURE IF ANY BIRD IS TRULY WILD OR NATIVE NOWDAYS” ANY BIRD CAN FLY OVER A FENCE HE SAID WITH A SMILE!
IT COMES DOWN TO THE FARMERS AND HUNTING OPERATIONS TELLING THE HUNTERS WHAT THEY WANT TO HEAR. WE HAVE TAKEN BIRD PRODUCTION TO A HIGHER LEVEL. WHY DO YOU THINK WE HAVE MORE HUNTERS THAN ANYONE IN THE COUNTRY! THERE IS A REASON MY FRIEND! GIVE US A TRY, WE WILL PROVE IT AND SAVE YOU MONEY AT THE SAME TIME WITH LESS TRAVEL AND HUNT COSTS!
