FAQ

WHAT TO BRING=  Each hunter should bring walking boots and normal outdoor wear.  One piece of Hunter Orange is required.   We have orange caps and vests in the pro shop.  Shooting glasses too, and are also available in the pro shop.  Walking is in native grass and milo.  Basic field hunting cover.  Brush pants not needed.   You can buy shotgun shells here in the pro shop cheaper than almost all discount stores.  As we buy direct from Federal.  This saves packing them for the drive here.  Shotguns can be un-plugged here.  Ice Chest to take the birds home is a good idea.  We dress all the birds and place in freezer bags for you.

Special Yearly Permit – $17.50  CALLED A CSA PERMIT  (you can buy your license at http://www.kdwp.state.ks.us)  We have a link on the front page. 
Kansas Nonresident License – $72.50  (unnecessary if Permit is purchased)
Kansas License or Kansas Nonresident licenses are legal

HOW MANY HUNTERS PER GUIDE - Each guide can take up to 4 clients per hunt. Each party will have their own stocked farm to themselves.  ALSO YOU CAN JOIN A EUROPEAN SHOOT WITH ANY NUMBER OF SHOOTERS, JUST CALL FOR DATES. 

HOW MANY ACRES DO WE HUNT - We have a total of 700 acres. This is in 5 stocked farms, which are one mile apart. So we can take 5 groups of hunters at one time.  SO WE CAN DO 20 HUNTERS IN THE MORNING AND 20 IN THE AFTERNOON.  Our farms are not farmed for ag production.  They are farmed for bird hunting.  It takes 3 hours to hunt 80 to 100 acres with the pointing dogs.  It is like hunting back in the 1950’s many have stated!

WILL THESE BIRDS FLY FAST

 - We produce a very fast, hard flying game bird.  Most say faster then natures birds!  That’s right!   WE KNOW SOME HUNTERS HAVE AN ISSUE WITH PEN RAISED BIRDS.  PLEASE DON’T JUDGE US, BY WHAT YOU HAVE SEEN IN THE PAST.  ONLY HERE WILL YOU FIND; 6.5 MILES OF FLIGHT PENS FOR THE BIRDS, OUR OWN FEED MILL WITH OUR OWN SPECIAL NO CORN- HIGH PROTEIN DIET,  OUR OWN GENETIC BLOODLINE OF BIRDS; OUR OWN HATCHERY TO PRODUCE THESE BIRDS.  K-STATE ANIMAL SCIENCE GRAD ON STAFF BREEDING THE BIRDS.  FEED NUTRITION SPECIALIST CONTROLS THE BIRD FEEDING OPERATION.   NO ONE DOES IT LIKE THIS!  THERE IS A REASON WE HARVEST MORE BIRDS IN A WEEK THEN THE AVERAGE RESORT DOES ALL SEASON.  COME SEE WHY AND WE WILL PROVE IT. We guarantee the best birds in the field. They are not tame or weak birds like some of our competitor’s. Just ask our references!
WHAT IS A NORMAL HARVEST -Due to our excellent habitat,the birds stay close to the farm stocked.  WITH OUR HIGHLY EXPERIENCED GUIDES, PLUS GREAT GUNDOGS  Most hunters harvest 90% of the birds stocked. THIS IS REAL HUNTING so weather and your shooting skills PLAY A BIG PART IN HUNT HARVEST AS WELL.   Our guides will make every effort possible to get you shooting at every bird.  ALSO NOTE, BIRDS MISSED BY OTHER HUNTERS CAN BE TAKEN BY YOU FREE,  NO BAG LIMIT HERE!  YOU WILL NOT FIND THAT AT OTHER LOCATIONS ACROSS THE COUNTRY! 

Clients who bring their dogs must except responsibility for the number of birds found. Our guides can not control the performance of clients dogs.

NIGHTLIFE AFTER THE HUNT?  We have  12 casinos in the area.  Not Las Vegas in size ; yet some hunters enjoy going there after the hunt.   The largest one is only 15 minutes away!   Also before or after your hunt be sure and go to JOHNS SPORT CENTER.  See 1000 guns in stock, and at great prices!  Only 25 minutes away in Pittsburg, Ks.  Ask for ADAM and tell him SMB sent you!!!

Gun dogs for sale and dog training packages available. We train pointing dogs from April 1 to September 1st. We have 3 professional trainers on staff. ENFORCED RULES ARE=

>No Shot Larger than #6 Allowed FOR SAFTEY REASONS.   We keep #6 and #7.5 in the pro shop.

>No Alcohol Allowed on grounds.  Our host hotel is the place for a cocktail.   Just 20 minutes away.  Free bar if you want.  Sodas too.

>Prices subject to change and sales tax. 

>Reservations required, we advised booking as early as possible.

>Each hunter must bring a ‘hunter orange” hat or vest.

>Hunting season from October 1st  through March 20th!      We loan guns to our clients, not rent them that others do.
